Women’s Day

Heard these guys joking about the idea of Women’s Day … Their story is that every day is women’s day.

For a son, every day is about listening to Mom. Women’s Day.

For an elder brother, every day is about caring for younger sister. Women’s Day.

For a younger brother, every day is about being bullied by elder sister. Women’s Day.

For a husband, every day is about managing the wife. Women’s Day.

And for a father, every day is about being wrapped about the daughter’s finer. Women’s Day.

Maybe its about time we had a Men’s Day too?

Jokes apart, these guys believe that its a sad state of affairs where we need to have a separate day dedicated to respecting women. Why cannot every day be about respecting women? Have even empresses failed to get respect across gender boundaries?

And this in a country which follows a religious tradition where we venerate the Mother Goddess. Where the Mother is considered the first teacher a child has. Where health, wealth, prosperity, wisdom, valour are deified in the Divine Mother. Where the Mother is worshipped, and the woman repressed.

What more do we need to respect women?
